36th Musikfest Bremen was a success

Artistic quality met with enthusiasm, audience numbers up on last year

The 36th Musikfest Bremen ends on 6 September after three jam-packed weeks featuring a wide variety of musical styles. Even before techno marching band MEUTE performs at the free open-air finale on the Domshof on Saturday evening, artistic director Professor Thomas Albert and managing director Jörg Ehntholt are highly satisfied with the initial results: »The artistic performances were consistently of the highest quality and were met with great enthusiasm by both the audience and the press. Ticket sales even increased compared to last year. Even before the final accounts are in, we know that around 25,600 visitors attended this year's festival, which had a total capacity of 28,083. This means that the 51 events in Bremen and the north-west, 13 of which were sold out, attracted 900 more visitors than last year. This means we achieved an occupancy rate of 91 per cent.« Managing Director Jörg Ehntholt on the financial situation: »The final accounts for the total implementation costs are not yet available, but based on current forecasts, I can report that we have stayed within budget and Musikfest Bremen gGmbH will break even at the end of the year.«
