Francesco Tristano
He was born in Luxembourg, speaks five languages fluently, started playing the piano at the age of five and is as busy as he is versatile: Francesco Tristano; pianist, composer, producer and DJ, studied at the Juilliard School in New York City as well as in Brussels, Riga, Paris, Luxembourg and Barcelona.
He is in equal demand in classical music venues and clubs the world over, performing both as a pianist and as an electronic music artist, whether in major concert halls or at experimental festivals. With a repertoire that ranges from Johann Sebastian Bach to Detroit techno, Francesco Tristano explores and pushes the boundaries between classical and electronic music, which is also demonstrated by his extensive discography. In 2017, Tristano signed an exclusive contract with Sony Classical and began a new phase of his career as a recording artist. The first release was »Piano Circle Songs« with his own minimalist and lyrical piano pieces. In 2019, he released »Tokyo Streets«, which captures the unique atmosphere he encountered and personal experiences he had performing in Japan. His 2022 album »On Early Music«, by contrast, is dedicated to Renaissance and early Baroque music with works by Girolamo Frescobaldi, Orlando Gibbons, John Bull and Peter Philips as well as his own compositions inspired by the Baroque and Renaissance. His main focus, however, remains Johann Sebastian Bach: in 2023, Tristano founded his own label intothefuture and began releasing Bach’s complete works in the same year – starting with the English Suites and followed by the six Partitas in 2024.
