Giorgi Gigashvili
The young Georgian pianist Giorgi Gigashvili has already won numerous prestigious international competitions – most recently 1st prize and the audience prize at the »KlavierOlymp« in Bad Kissingen in 2021 and 2nd prize and other awards at the Arthur Rubinstein Competition in 2023. In the same year, his debut album »Meeting my Shadow« (Alpha Classics) was released, with works by Scarlatti, Beethoven, Scriabin and Messiaen. Giorgi Gigashvili is a BBC New Generation Artist from 2023 to 2025 and has been selected as an ECHO Rising Star of the 2025/2026 season.
After training at the State Conservatory in his home city of Tbilisi, he studied with Nelson Goerner in Geneva for two years and in 2023/2024 with Kirill Gerstein at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin. The 25-year-old has performed with the Brandenburg State Orchestra, the Munich Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the Hallé Orchestra and the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, among others, and has given solo performances at venues such as the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Leipzig Gewandhaus, the Vienna Konzerthaus and Wigmore Hall in London.
In addition to his career as a classical pianist, Giorgi Gigashvili experiments with projects such as »Georgian on my Mind« with singer Nini Nutsubidze, which combines Georgian folk songs with classical works by Chopin or Bartók, for example, or »Serious Music« feat. Nikala, a stage experiment with classical and electronic music.
