Golda Schultz
South African soprano Golda Schultz is one of the leading singers of her generation and in demand around the world, both on the opera stage and in the concert hall. She is hailed by audiences and critics alike for her warm timbre, her exceptionally expressive voice and her flawless technique. She studied at the Juilliard School in New York and in the opera studio of the Bavarian State Opera and enjoyed international success with early roles such as Sophie (»Der Rosenkavalier«), Contessa Almaviva (»Le nozze di Figaro«) and Pamina Pamina (»Die Zauberflöte«).
Engagements in the 2024/25 season will take her to the Opéra National de Paris, the Bavarian State Opera, the Semperoper Dresden and once again to the Metropolitan Opera New York, among others. She will perform in concerts under the baton of conductors such as Klaus Mäkelä, Paavo Järvi, Stéphane Denève and Dalia Stasevska with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich and the BBC Symphony Orchestra, among others. She regularly performs recitals with her pianists Gary Matthewman and Jonathan Ware at major festivals and in leading European concert venues.
Golda Schultz has also made a name for herself with her recordings: Her solo album »This Be Her Verse« is dedicated to female composers from the 19th century to the present day, while in »Mozart, You Drive Me Crazy!« she explores the female experience in Mozart’s operas together with the Kammerakademie Potsdam and Antonello Manacorda.
Golda Schultz was the star of the BBC’s globally broadcast »Last Night of the Proms« in 2020 and is a regular guest at the Metropolitan Opera, the Glyndebourne Festival, the Salzburg Festival and in leading concert halls in Europe and the USA.
