Danish bassist, singer, songwriter and bandleader Ida Nielsen has perfected funk! So brilliantly, in fact, that she was a member of Prince’s bands The New Power Generation and 3rdEyeGirl for six years – »the most magical musical journey ever«, as she says herself. After the years with Prince, Ida Nielsen started to refocus on her solo career. She has since been releasing music regularly and has increased her touring schedules tremendously. Like the late US superstar, she and her band the Funkbots move effortlessly between rock, funk, hip hop, neo soul, reggae and world music. In 2019, Ida Nielsen was voted one of the top 10 best bassists in the world in the annual Music Radar survey – alongside greats such as Stanley Clarke and Victor Wooten. On her (sixth) solo album »More Sauce, Please!«, which she released in 2023 and with which she orders »more of the good stuff«, she delivers exactly that: bass, grooves and fun with a zest for life between funk, R&B, neo soul and hip hop.
