Jean-Sébastien Bou
After studying at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, it didn’t take long for Jean-Sébastien to conquer the European opera houses. The baritone is naturally at home in the French repertoire, where he draws equally from baroque and contemporary repertoire. He sang the role of Pelléas (»Pelléas et Mélisande«) at the Opéra Comique in Paris, in Düsseldorf, Rouen and Nice, at the Stanislavski Music Theatre in Moscow and at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona amongst others. He has sung roles such as Dancaïro (»Carmen«), Orestes (»Iphigénie en Tauride«), Apollon and Adamas (»Les Boréades«), the title role in Henri Rabaud’s »Mârouf, savetier du Caire« and Frédéric in Léo Delibe’s »Lakmé«. In 2013, he sang the title role in the world premiere of Thierry Escaich’s first opera »Claude« at the Opéra de Lyon. He has also appeared on stage as Mozart’s »Don Giovanni« and Monteverdi’s »Orfeo«, as Figaro (»Il barbiere di Siviglia«), Malatesta (»Don Pasquale«), Marcello (»La bohème«), Sharpless (»Madama Butterfly«), Demetrius (»A Midsummer Night’s Dream«), Tarquinius (»The Rape of Lucretia«) und Farfarello (»The Love for Three Oranges«). A highlight of his concert performances to date was Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem with Marc Minkowski in the Berlin Philharmonie.
