Alfredo Rodriguez was discovered in 2006 by his future mentor Quincy Jones at the Montreux Jazz Festival. Since then, Rodriguez has established himself as the embodiment of jazz and unbridled improvisation – not least as a valued sidekick to Herbie Hancock, Richard Bona and Lionel Loueke. No wonder: the Cuban pianist whirls across the keyboard with hair-raising tempo and rhythm changes. With his quintet, he conjures up an electrifying fusion of Latin, jazz, Son, pop, tango and funk that will catapult you straight to Havana or Miami with its zest for life.

Around the market square, nine venues each host two 45-minute concerts in three time slots. All venues have two shared intervals for spontaneous encounters and stimulating exchanges. Individual tickets can be booked for each event at a standard price of 33 euros, so you can choose for yourself whether you would like to attend one, two or three concerts to start off the festival!
