    Anastasia Kobekina violoncello

    Programme:
Hildegard von Bingen: O frondens virga
Johann Sebastian Bach: Suites for solo cello No. 1 in G major, BWV 1007, No. 2 in D minor, BWV 1008, and No. 3 in C major, BWV 1009
Vladimir Kobekin: Das Narrenschiff (The Ship of Fools)
    Luigi Boccherini/Giovanni Sollima: Fandango
as well as works by Jonny Greenwood, Bryce Dessner, Edmund Finnis and Pēteris Vasks

Anastasia Kobekina has long progressed from promising rising star to one of the leading cellists of our time. No wonder: Her masterful technique and exceptional musical instinct result in remarkably mature and authentic interpretations. She loves to push boundaries and explore the versatility of her instrument. Her concert revolves around the first three of Bach’s six cello suites. With their vigorous rhythms and complex melodies, these suites remain among the most remarkable solo cello works to this day. They are woven into a programme ranging from an adaptation of a hypnotic vocal piece by Hildegard von Bingen to a fiery composition by her father and a virtuoso arrangement of Boccherini’s famous »Fandango« from his Guitar Quintet No. 4. This original musical kaleidoscope sees Anastasia Kobekina take the audience on a journey to musical worlds full of depth and surprises in Schnitger’s baptismal church.
