    Programme:
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: »The Magic Flute« K. 620 (grand opera in two acts, libretto by Emanuel Schikaneder) (semi-staged)

1996: the Musikfest Bremen, Mozart’s singspiel »Zaide« And the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen – this marked the beginning of the festival’s long running tradition of performing Mozart’s dramatic works. »The Magic Flute«, composed in a feverish frenzy just weeks before his death, is a multi-layered legacy that is unique in Mozart’s theatrical oeuvre. A masterpiece about love and power, struggle, community and also gender equality, with arias that have all become timeless hits. Tarmo Peltokoski, the orchestra’s acclaimed Principal Guest Conductor, has been passionate about Mozart ever since he first saw the Magic Flute at the age of 11. With the sleek transparency and crystal-clear articulation of Bremen’s elite orchestra and a first-rate line-up of soloists, the Finnish conductor promises a thrilling performance that will blow all the dust of the score!
