    Alain Altinoglu conductor

    Programme:
Hector Berlioz: Hungarian March from »La damnation de Faust«
George Gershwin: »Rhapsody in Blue« (for piano and orchestra), »An American in Paris«

The Frankfurt Radio Symphony is famous for its dynamism and is held in high esteem around the world. Its chief conductor Alain Altinoglou is also Music Director of La Monnaie in Brussels and was named »Conductor of the year« at the International Opera Awards. Turkish pianist and composer Fazıl Say, 2008 Musikfest prize laureate, is one of the most fascinating personalities in classical music. With »Rhapsody in Blue« he can display the full extent of his piano skills. Add to that »An American in Paris« and you have two of George Gershwin’s most popular works, with which he brought jazz into the classical concert halls.

    1, 2 or 3 out of 18 – how it works

Around the market square, nine venues will each host two 45-minute concerts in three time slots. All venues have two shared intervals for spontaneous encounters and stimulating exchanges. Individual tickets can be booked for each event at a standard price of 33 euros, so you can choose for yourself whether you would like to attend one, two or three concerts to start off the festival!
