Jörn Hinnerk Andresen studied conducting, piano and harpsichord in Dresden and Amsterdam with Hans-Christoph Rademann, Siegfried Kurz and Daniel Reuss. After working in Zwickau and Koblenz, he joined the Munich State Theatre as choir director and Kapellmeister in 2008.From 2008 to 2013 he also directed the Konzertvereinigung Wiener Staatsopernchor at the Salzburg Festival. From 2015 to 2019, he directed the choir at the Semperoper Dresden, while he was nominated for an International Opera Award for his work with the Saxon State Opera choir.

He has conducted more than 60 operas, operettas and musicals of all genres and eras as well as a broad repertoire of baroque works. He has been engaged as a guest conductor by the English National Opera and the Bavarian State Opera. He also works closely with ensembles such as the lautten compagney BERLIN, the Staatskapelle Halle, Vokal Nord from Tromsø and the Batzdorfer Hofkapelle. He is a regular guest for concerts, CD productions and rehearsals with several European radio choirs, including the Bavarian Radio Choir, the MDR Radio Choir, the National Danish Radio Choir in Copenhagen and the Choeur de Radio France in Paris. As a choirmaster, he has worked with many renowned conductors, including Pierre Boulez, Christian Thielemann, Antonio Pappano, Daniele Gatti, Kirill Petrenko, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Alan Gilbert, Fabio Luisi and Ingo Metzmacher.

After teaching at the conservatoires in Cologne and Dresden and several years as a mentor for the German Music Council in the Choral Conductors’ Forum, Jörn Hinnek Andresen was appointed professor of choral conducting at the Mozarteum University Salzburg in the 2019/20 winter semester.
