Jonathan Tetelman is considered one of today’s most exciting rising stars and is praised for his »superb, radiant and distinctive tenor voice« (Opera Aktuell). The tenor, who was born in Chile and grew up in New Jersey, performs at leading houses with world-famous orchestras and demonstrates his talent with a »dark tenor timbre« (Süddeutsche Zeitung) and »soothing energy« (Der Tagesspiegel). On the opera stage, jonathan Tetelman began the 2023/24 season at the Deutsche Oper Berlin with two Puccini operas: as Luigi in Pinar Karabulut’s new production of »Il trittico« (»Il tabarro«) and as Pinkerton in »Madama Butterfly«. This was followed by the title role in Robert Carsen’s production of Massenet’s »Werther« at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden and Rofolfo in Puccini’s »La bohème« at the Dortmund Theatre as well as Pinkerton at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo. In March 2023, the tenor made his eagerly awaited house debut at the New York Metropolitan Opera as Ruggero in Puccini’s »La Rondine« and could be seen soon after as Pinkerton in »Madama Butterfly«, alongside Asmik Grigorian. Concert performances have taken him to the Shenzhen Concert Hall in China, the Konzerthaus Berlin, Switzerland, Lisbon, Istanbul, Baden-Baden and Prague. In recent seasons, his partners on the world’s leading stages have included artists such as Sylvia D'Eramo, Angela Gheorghiu, Plácido Domingo, Elīna Garanča and Kristīne Opolais.
Jonathan Tetelman signed an exclusive agreement with Deutsche Grammophon and for his debut album »Arias« (August 2022), he has recorded Verdi and Versimo arias, a selection from the French lyrical repertoire and duets with Lithuanian soprano Vida Miknevičiûtė together with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria and its chief conductor Karel Mark Chichon, which earned him the Opus Klassik for Young Artist of the Year. His second album »The Great Puccini« was released in September 2023 and contains famous arias from nine Puccini operas.
