»There are countertenors and then there is Mr. Jaroussky«, declared the New York Times in 2014 about one of the truly great singers of our time. His voice soars effortlessly into high soprano ranges, delivering the most virtuoso coloraturas with nuance and grace. It is no wonder that Philippe Jaroussky has already won a multitude of awards, including four Victoire de la Musique as »Singer of the Year« and several ECHO Klassik Awards. With impressive vocal mastery capable of delivering striking vocal acrobatics with subtle nuances, Philippe Jaroussky has tapped into a diverse and broad repertoire, from the refinement of the Italian Seicento with Monteverdi, Sances and Rossi to the dazzling virtuosity of Handel and Vivaldi. In addition to the famous Baroque arias, he continues to unearth and stage forgotten repertoire such as that of Antonio Caldara, Johann Christian Bach, Nicola Porpora, Georg Philipp Telemann and Agostino Steffani. He also specialises in French songs and contemporary compositions, many of which were written specifically for his voice, including the work »Sonnets de Louise Labé« for countertenor and orchestra by Marc-Andre Dalbavie and Kaija Saariho's composition »Only the Sound Remains«.

In March 2021, Philippe Jaroussky made his conducting debut at the helm of his ensemble Artaserse with a production of Scarlatti's oratorio »Primo Omicidio«. This production will be at the Salzburg Festival and at the Montpellier Opera, where Jaroussky and Artaserse will be in residence for the next three seasons. In 2022, he continued to pursue his new conducting career with concerts in Paris, Lyon, Montpellier and Budapest, as well as at the Épau and Halle Festivals.

At the end of May and beginning of June 2022, Philippe Jaroussky conducted his first opera in the orchestra pit with Handel's »Giulio Cesare« in Paris and Montpellier. In the current season, he is scheduled to go on a European tour with Le Concert de la Loge and Julien Chauvin, conduct Sartorio's staged production »Orfeo« at the Théâtre de l'Athénée Louis-Jouvet in Paris, perform more duo concerts of »A sa guitare«, a joint production with guitarist Thibaut Garcia, and Bach's St Matthew Passion at the Alte Oper Frankfurt, in Montpellier, Paris and Zurich.

Philippe Jaroussky has been an exclusive Erato/Warner Classics artist for many years. He has received multiple awards for his remarkable discography and has set new standards for countertenors. In 2023, he released his latest album »Forgotten Arias« with Le Concert de la Loge and Julien Chauvin. 2021 saw the release of »À sa guitare« with guitarist Thibaut Garcia, featuring 22 tracks spanning 400 years of music by composers and songwriters from France, Great Britain, Austria, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Argentina and the USA - a programme that Philippe Jaroussky and Thibaut Garcia also presented at Musikfest Bremen in 2022, when Jaroussky was awarded the Musikfest Prize.
