Works from the new album »Family Tree«
In both classical music and jazz, the quartet is considered the perfect genre for ensemble playing. The string quartet for the former, the line-up with trumpet (or saxophone), piano, double bass and percussion for the latter. His training has made French trumpeter David Enhco intimately familiar with both. From 2010 onwards, jazz gained the upper hand for the co-founder of The Amazing Keystone Big Band. But with the »Family Tree« project, his jazz quartet now meets a classical string quartet, joined by high-profile guest musicians. And the title does not suggest a family prioject for nothing: the trumpeter has entrusted his brother, pianist Thomas Enhco, with the arrangements of jazz and pop standards as well as classical works by composers such as Francis Poulenc and Claudio Monteverdi and his own compositions. Davids partner, Lydia Shelley, also joins the project as a cellist of the string quartet. The resulting sound combines the best of two musical worlds, which also results in a tribute of the Enhco-brothers to her stepfather and mentor, jazz violinist Didier Lockwood, who died in 2018 – bravo!
