With her funky double bass style, Detroit-born bassist, composer and bandleader Endea Owens, who studied at New York’s prestigious Juilliard School, is one of the most promising emerging artists on the American jazz scene. Mentored by icons such as Marcus Belgrave, Rodney Whitaker and Ron Carter, Owens has played her way into the limelight on her own terms. She has performed with the likes of Wynton Marsalis, Jennifer Holliday, Diana Ross and Solange and played in Jon Batiste’s »Stay Human«, the house band for »The Late Show with Stephen Colbert«. Now she has released her debut solo album »Feel Good Music« with her band The Cookout. Rooted in the jazz of the swinging sixties and seventies, the album opens up a universe of soulful melodies and dynamic rhythms with the powerful, passionate double bass player firmly at the centre. Endea Owens conjures up a groovy mixture of jazz, gospel, swing and neo-soul, lifting dancing hearts and swinging spirits with passion and dedication.
