Programme:
Stevie Wonder: Songs from the Album »Innervisions« e.a.

Because it was so beautiful – here’s to another one! The Metropole Orkest and singer Sheléa took the market square by storm at the open air Musikfest finale in September 2023. They brought the Queen of Soul back to life with their rousing homage to Aretha Franklin. Now Europe’s only big band with a full string section and its artistic director Jules Buckley turn their attention to none other than Stevie Wonder. Centre stage is his Grammy Award winning album »Innervisions«, released 50 years ago – with cult tracks such as »Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing«, »Higher Ground«, »He's Misstra Know-It-All« and »Living For The City«. »Inarguably one of the greatest albums of all time«, says Cory Henry, this year’s soloist. A former member of the fusion-funk-jazz band Snarky Puppy, the American keyboardist and singer already wowed audiences at the 2016 Musikfest with the Metropole Orkest. When this exceptional orchestra surround him with their lush, rich sound, the music of another soul icon brimming with energy and groove is guaranteed to turn the market square into a dance floor once again.
