To round off the Musikfest, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen presents a special concert featuring two artists who made their Bremen debuts at the Musikfest to great acclaim: Pekka Kuusisto and Patricia Koptachinskaja. The Finnish violinist, conductor and composer first appeared at the Glocke in 1997 with Sibelius' Violin Concerto. The Moldovan-born violinist was honoured with the Deutschlandfunk Prize at the 2006 Musikfest and made her debut a year later with Beethoven's Violin Concerto. Under the baton at Kuusisto, the exceptional violinist now turns her attention to Arnold Schoenberg's Violin Concerto with the the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen. The concerto is considered one of the most difficult works in the violin repertoire. The solo part requires such complex technique that the composer himself joked that it required a hand with six fingers. Sergei Prokofiev's »Romeo and Juliet« is probably one of the best-known pieces of ballet music today. The three suites based on it, from which Pekka Kuusisto creates an extract, turn the tragic story of the famous lovers and their feuding families into a moving concert experience with tender melodies and powerful rhythms!
