Alexander Gergelyfi
Alexander Gergelyfi studied historical keyboard instruments and early music performance practice in his home town of Linz, Graz, Strasbourg and Hamburg. His passionate interest in his instrument and its repertoire has brought the clavichord player together with ensembles such as Il Gusto Barocco under the direction of Jörg Halubek, the Neue Hofkapelle Graz, the L’Orfeo Barockorchester under Michi Gaigg and Carin van Heerden, the Concentus Musicus Wien under Stefan Gottfried, the Mozarteumorchester Salzburg under Antonello Manacorda, recreationBAROCK under Jordi Savall and the Compagnia Transalpina. Alexander Gergelyfi released his award-winning first CD »Morbides mit Charakter« with the ensemble Verbotene Frucht in 2018, the follow-up album »Liebe auf den ersten Schluck« was released in 2022. His first solo CD »Sapperlot!« was released in November 2022 on Carpe Diem Records. In 2023, he made his debut at the Salzburg Festival, where he has been putting on the yearly »Kleine Nachtmusiken« series together with baritone Georg Nigl and actor August Diehl. For this, Gergelyfi has played on Mozart’s original clavichord. At the Musikfest Bremen, this series is entitled »Musikalischer Salon« and he has been involved since 2024.
The passionate educator has been teaching clavichord, historical basso continuo, literature studies and historical speech at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz since 2018.
