Aphrodite Patoulidou
Greek soprano Aphrodite Patoulidou studied at the University of Macedonia in her home town of Thessaloniki, at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels and at the University of the Arts Berlin, where she was in Aras Argiris’ class. Apart from being a successful singer, she is also a painter and photographer, writes songs and plays the piano, guitar and nyckelharpa.
In 2018, Aphrodite Patoulidou was one of the first artists to take part in Barbara Hannigan’s Equilibrium Young Artists initiative, where she took on the role of Anna Trulove in Stravinsky’s »The Rake’s Progress«. She has since sung soprano parts at the Staatsoper Berlin, the Brussels opera house La Monnaie, the Teatro Real Madrid and the Greek National Opera, has appeared in many concert halls including the Berlin Philharmonie, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Gothenburg Konserthuset and at music festivals such as Ojai in California, Aldeburgh and Ludwigsburg. Last season, she made her debut with the Cleveland Orchestra in the USA and went on a tour of nine concerts in Europe’s foremost concert halls with the London Symphony Orchestra, performing Mahler’s Fourth Symphony and Vivier’s »Lonely Child«. Her masterful performance of Britten’s »Les Illuminations« with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin under Dalia Stasevska was met with great critical acclaim. As part of the performance, Aphrodite Patouliddou created ten paintings inspired by the work’s ten movements, prints of which were given to the audience. In the 2024-25 season, Aphrodite Patoulidou presents her thoughtfully curated recital programme »My Bloody Valentine« at the Philharmonie de Paris with Malcolm Martineau and with Eric Schneider at the Greek National Opera in Athens and in Cologne.
In April 2025, she appeared at the Isarphilharmonie in Mahler’s Fourth Symphony with the Utopia Orchestra under the baton of Teodor Currentzis.
