The Constellation Choir & Orchestra
The Constellation Choir and Orchestra (CCO) was founded by Sir John Eliot Gardiner in August 2024. Emerging in a period of artistic renewal, the ensemble builds on Gardiner’s decades of work with the Monteverdi Choir and the English Baroque Soloists. It is comprised of a new generation of international singers and musicians. Rooted in historically informed performance, the artists come together on a project-by-project basis. The CCO embraces a broad repertoire spanning from Baroque music to the 19th century, including works by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Johannes Brahms, as well as contemporary music.
It is based in Springhead, Gardiner’s birthplace in Dorset, a historic site with origins as a working mill and later as an organic farm, now a hub for creative and sustainable living. It is from here that the Springhead Constellation develops its activities, which include a festival, workshops and digital offerings. The Constellation Choir & Orchestra plays a central role in this mission, performing globally with its ambitious projects, dedicated to exploring the intersection of music, art and environmental stewardship.
