Born in Helsinki in 2001, Anton Mejias began piano lessons at the age of five, later studied at the Sibelius Academy in his home city and is currently graduating from the renowned Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. He has won prizes at several competitions, including The Tampere Piano Competition (2017), the Nordic Piano Competition (2019) and the Gian Battista Viotti International Piano Competition (2021). The Finnish-Cuban pianist has already worked under the baton of Tarmo Peltokoski on several occasions, including with the Hallé Orchestra in Manchester in November 2022 and with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl in August 2023. Anton Mejias made his debut at the Kissinger KlavierOlymp, the Ruhr Piano Festival, the Dresden Music Festival, the Newport Classical Festival and in Munich in the 2023/24 season. Commenting on his debut in Munich in April, the Süddeutsche Zeitung wrote: »Technique is not an issue for Mejias, he can do everything and without effort ... [and] plays with astonishing virtuosity.«
