Krzysztof Urbaniak studied organ and harpsichord in Warschau and Stuttgart. He completed his doctorate at the Academy of Music in Krakow. The recipient of multiple scholarships and awards at international organ competitions, he has performed across Europe and Asia and has demonstrated his skills on several CD recordings, earning him glowing reviews, for example »Danziger Barock« (2014), »Retrospection« (2015) and »The Renaissance Organ of Olkusz« (2019). In 2010, he won the Musikfest Bremen’s Arp Schnitger Organ Competition. In 2015, he published Daniel Magnus Gronau’s chorale variations together with Martin Rost. One of his key research areas is the work of the Gdansk organ builder Andreas Hildebrandt and the work of the Nitrowski and Brandtner organ building families. Krzysztof Urbaniak's many occupations and commitments are in part in Lodz, where he was artist in residence of the Artur Rubinstein Philharmonic Orchestra from 2013 to 2016 and then curator of both organs of the Lodz Philharmonic Orchestra from 2017. He also holds a professorship at the State Academy of Music in Łódź, teaches at the Academy of Music in Krakow and at various masterclasses and is a jury member at organ competitions. Urbaniak is the founder and artistic director of the organ festival on the historic Andreas Hildebrandt organ from 1719 in Pasłęk and artistic director of the organ festival in Olkusz. He is an organ expert for the Polish Ministry of Culture and a board member of the Baltische Orgel Centrum e.V. Stralsund.
