Programme:
Dieterich Buxtehude: Praeludium ex C BuxWV 138, Praeludium ex g BuxWV 163, »Ach Herr, mich armen Sünder« BuxWV 178
Johann Sebastian Bach: Fantasia in G major BWV 571, Partita »Ach, was soll ich Sünder machen« BWV 770, Concerto in C major BWV 594
The special appeal the organ Arp Schnitger built for Dedesdorf holds today is that almost all of Schnitger’s original pipes have been preserved and the original playing conditions from the time it was built have been restored. As a result, the compact instrument with its elegant sound is perfect for the repertoire of that time. Krzystof Urbaniak was the winner of the first Arp Schnitger Organ Competition at the Musikfest Bremen in 2010. In addition to his international career as a soloist and organ expert, he is also professor for organ, improvisation and historic organ building at the University of Music in Lódź. In Dedesdorf, he puts Johann Sebastian Bach centre stage, accompanied by works of Dieterich Buxtehude, making it clear once again that the wealth of ideas and sounds in Bach’s oeuvre would not have been conceivable without the formative influence of Buxtehude. The finale brings the entire range of orchestral sounds of the organ to life with the Concerto in C major BWV 594, Bach’s transcription of Antonio Vivaldi's virtuoso Violin Concerto in D major »Grosso Mogul« RV 208.
