Marc Minkowski decided to become a conductor at an early age. When he was 19, he founded the ensemble Les Musiciens du Louvre, who played an active role in the revival of baroque performance practice under his direction and delved deeply into the French repertoire and the music of Handel before broadening their repertoire to include Mozart, Rossini, Offenbach and Wagner. Marc Minkowski regularly appears as a guest conductor at the world's most prestigious opera houses and concert halls, including the Paris Opéra National, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, La Scala in Milan, the San Francisco Opera and the festivals in Aix-en-Provence and Salzburg. He has conducted the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra and Kanazawa Orchestra, among others. From 2016 to 2022 he led the Opéra National de Bordeaux, from 2013 to 2017 he was Artistic Director of the Mozartwoche Salzburg and from 2018 to 2022 he was Artistic Advisor to the Kanazawa Orchestra in Japan.
His diary for the 2023/24 season includes Verdi's »Don Carlos« at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, Offenbach's »Orpheus in the Underworld« at the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie, Mozart's »Mitridate«, »Le nozze di Figaro« and »Don Giovanni« at the Berlin State Opera, Strauss' »Fledermaus« at the Teatro Real in Madrid and at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris, Handel's »Alcina« at La Scala in Milan, and »La Resurrezione« on tour in France, Spain, Italy and France.
