Sheléa (© Patric Leo)
Born and raised in California, Sheléa began her career as a songwriter and singer working with production duo Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. It didn’t take her long to come to the attention of stars such as Stevie Wonder, Brian McKnight and Narada Michael Walden. She gained wider prominence in 2012 after she posted a YouTube video singing a medley of Whitney Houston hits shortly after the singer’s death. The video went viral and has been watched more than a million times. Following this, she was invited to the White House by the Obamas to the Gershwin Prize presentation to Burt Bacharach and Hall David to sing their classic »Anyone Who Had a Heart«. Her debut album »Love Fell on Me« was released in 2013, with the hit single »I'll Never Let You Go« remaining in the Billboard charts for over 22 weeks. In 2017, Sheléa made her Carnegie Hall debut with a tribute to songwriter Jimmy Webb. Performances at other venerable institutions such as the Kennedy Center and the Library of Congress followed, firmly establishing Sheléa as one of the great voices in traditional pop, jazz, R&B and soul. The audience in Bremen agreed last year, when the charismatic singer took the market square by storm at the Musikfest finale with the Metropole Orkest.
