Programme:
Arias and instrumental works by George Frideric Handel (»Rinaldo« HWV 7a/7b, »Il trionfo del tempo e del disinganno« HWV 46a and Sonata in B flat major HWV 288), Antonio Vivaldi (»Griselda« RV 718, »Ercole sul Termodonte« RV 710 and Violin Concerto in D major RV 212a), Carl Heinrich Graun (»Britannico« and »Coriolano«) and Nicola Antonio Porpora (»Siface, re di Numidia«)
Since the Russian Soprano Julia Lezhneva’s international breakthrough at the 2010 Salzburg Festival at the age of just 21 (!), she has long established herself as one of today’s leading singers of baroque music. Thanks to her astounding musical talent and polished technique, she masters even the most audacious coloraturas with perfect elegance and effortless confidence. She masterfully plays with the colours of her richly-timbred, youthful, radiant soprano and breathes new life into both highly virtuosic and intimately soulful arias. For her musical exploration of Handel, Vivaldi, Graun and Porpora, she has experienced partners at her side in Les Accents and Thibault Noally, long-time concertmaster of Les Musiciens du Louvre. The French violinist and his ensemble delight with their exceptionally lively and exciting ensemble playing full of dynamic nuances, providing Julia Lezhneva with the perfect musical soil for her vocal explosion of emotions.
