We are adding another high-profile name to the select list of renowned pianists, including Fazıl Say, Itamar Golan and, most recently, Mao Fujita, who have given guest performances at Castle Gödens: Lucas Debargue. Born in Paris in 1990, he took his first piano lessons at the age of 11, but gave them up again at 15. It was only when he met piano teacher Rena Shereshevskaya at the age of 20 that he began his actual musical education. Although he »only« came fourth in the 2015 Tchaikovsky competition in Moscow, he was selected for the Music Critics’ prize and was allowed to perform at the final laureates’ concert – a first in the competition’s history! Ever since, Lucas Debargue has remained one of the most interesting and successful young pianists of our time. With his elegant, cultivated style and his keen sense for nuances, it is as if he were born for the impressionist realms of Fauré and Ravel. And as well as the passionate romantic outbursts of Scriabin’s third piano sonata, he will also present one of his own compositions at his Musikfest Debut – bienvenue Lucas Debargue!
