»La nobiltà di Milano«: Music by Francesco Rognoni, Agostino Soderini, Giuseppe Gallo and Giovanni Paolo Cima
After reigning over Milan for centuries, the Sforza family died out in 1535 with Francesco II and the duchy fell to Emperor Charles V. From then on, the Spanish viceroys ruled over the metropolis in Lombardy. This was the heyday of the cornett, the sound of which was likened to the human voice. When Bruce Dickey, his Breathtaking Collective and Cappella Mariana from Prague follow the heavenly connection between angelic voices and this historic wind instrument, the captivatingly beautiful and highly virtuosic music from the Milan of the Habsburgs is brought to life again – a true revelation!
