Founded in 2005 and led by French composer and conductor Jérémie Rhorer, Le Cercle de l'Harmonie explores the natural links between the so-called classical and romantic repertoires. The orchestra covers a century of music on period instruments and pursues a genuinely creative reconstruction, by placing the composer and his own hand at the centre of the project, in order to perform the music in the spirit of its original composition - freed from the weight of tradition and the influences of the various interpretations that have been added over time.
In addition to performances at the most renowned institutions in France, the musicians are regularly invited to international festivals. In 2022, they excelled at the Musikfest Bremen with a concert performance of Verdi's »Rigoletto« and were no less brilliant last year with »Il trovatore«. Le Cercle de l'Harmonie strikes a flexible balance between a permanent orchestra and part-time ensembles. A pool of 150 expert musicians enables the orchestra to put together a tailor-made line-up for each programme.
