The Scottish Chamber Orchestra only recently extended his tenure as chief conductor for at least another four years. With his baroque ensemble Il Pomo d’Oro, which he has led since 2013, he is planning to record all 41 Mozart symphonies, juxtaposing an early work with a late one for each instalment. He is without doubt one of the preeminent conductors of the younger generation: Maxim Emelyanychev, born in Nizhny Novgorod in 1988 (like Daniil Trifonov and Igor Levit), studied at Moscow’s Tchaikovsky Conservatory and made his conducting debut at the age of 12.
In 2014, the young conductor made a remarkable debut with Mozart’s »Don Giovanni« at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville. Hailed by critics, numerous engagements throughout Europe followed. His close collaboration with Joyce DiDonato has taken him and his ensemble Il Pomo d’Oro on tours all over the world and, notably, to a Gramophone Award in 2027 for their album »In War and Peace«.
There are hardly any world-renowned orchestras that Maxim Emelyanychev has not yet worked with. Debuts in recent seasons have included the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Toronto Symphony, Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra New Japan Philharmonic, Osaka Kansai Philharmonic, Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Helsinki Radio Symphony Orchestra, Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and many more.
