Giovanni Battista Pergolesi: Stabat Mater
Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s »Stabat Mater« is one of the most famous pieces of sacred music ever. It evokes a truly intimate character, whilst its mix of intense piety and expressive tenderness has operatic qualitiues. The period instrument ensemble Il Pomo d’Oro, which is highly praised for its authentic, dynamic interpretations, brings a dream team of vocalists: Mélissa Petit and Jakub Józef Orliński. When the brilliant crystal clear soprano melts together with the darkly timbred, richly nuanced alto of the world-famous countertenor, Pergolesi's poignant music of the soul becomes a wonderfully comforting moment of contemplation.
