Äneas Humm
Swiss baritone Äneas Humm is one of the most promising young talents in the world of classical music. Born in 1995, he began his training with the Zurich Boys’ Choir and continued at the Vorarlberg State Conservatory. At the age of 18, he began his studies at the University of the Arts Bremen and in 2019 he graduated from the Juilliard School New York. This was followed by engagements at the theatres of Weimar, Karlsruhe and St. Gallen and debuts at the Hamburg State Opera, the Theater an der Wien, the Lucerne Festival and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Äneas Humm has garnered critical acclaim from both the press and audiences, for example as Papageno, Nardo, Roberto, Guglielmo and Masetto in Mozart’s operas, in the title roles of Purcell’s »Dido and Aeneas«, Monteverdi’s »Orfeo« and Blow’s »Venus und Adonis«, as Harry in Bernsteins »My Fair Lady«, as Harlequin in Strauss’ »Ariadne auf Naxos«, as Malatesta in Donizetti’s »Don Pasquale«, as Agrippa in John Adams’ »Antony and Cleopatra« and most recently as Doctor Falke in Strauss‘ »Fledermaus« and as Pantalon in Prokofiev’s » The Love for Three Oranges«. Äneas Humm already tried his hand at Lieder singing in the major New York concert venues while he was still a student, and he has been performing with us regularly since 2018 with artists such as Hartmut Hoell, Judit Polgar and Renate Rohlfing. He is a highly sought-after guest at festivals all over the world and has also enjoyed success with his albums to date. In 2018, he received the Deutschlandfunk Prize at the Musikfest Bremen. In October 2022, he was honoured with the OPUS Klassik for Young Singer of the Year for his album »Embrace«.
