Jakub Józef Orliński trained in Warsaw and New York, and is now one of the world’s leading countertenors. Famous not only for his crystal-clear, rich and highly nuanced alto voice, he is also a model, brand ambassador, breakdancer and social media star, the epitome of the versatile artist of the new generation. However, his true domain is his spellbinding singing, which already impressed the audience at the opening night of the 2024 Musikfest with his performance of Pergolesi’s »Stabat Mater«. His programme »Beyond« is a collection of works from the early Italian Baroque era. As well as pieces by Monteverdi, Caccini and Cavalli, it features compositions by lesser-known composers who have been rescued from obscurity. Arias, cantatas and madrigals are artfully woven together with instrumental pieces to create a dramatically compelling concert that covers the full range of emotions. To create this dramatic arc, Orliński has joined forces with the highly accomplished and like-minded ensemble Il Pomo d’Oro, whose energy and passion are infectious.
