    Programme:
»Da Vinci’s Dream«: A journey through five centuries with music from the Renaissance, by Domenico Scarlatti, Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Gustav Mahler, Zez Confrey, Arne Nordheim, Philip Glass and Martynas Levickis.

The accordion has been named »Instrument of the Year 2026«. Martynas Levickis, the young Lithuanian virtuoso, is a true master of the instrument, which acts like a miniature orchestra in its own right, making it a veritable chameleon of sound. Levickis loves to bridge styles and eras, showcasing the musical diversity and cultural richness of his instrument. His programme »Da Vinci’s Dream« takes inspiration from the Italian polymath’s drawing of an »organetto a portable paper organ, that anticipated the mechanics of the accordion, long before its invention in the early 19th century. Levickis spans an arc from the Renaissance and Baroque periods and the First Viennese School to Gustav Mahler and Philip Glass’s minimalist music, as well as his own compositions inspired by Lithuanian folklore. In doing so, he brilliantly demonstrates how the »Instrument of the Year 2026« moves between tradition and modernity, effortlessly crossing stylistic boundaries and capturing both the intimate and the monumental – hats off!
