    Die Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen
    Jérémie Rhorer conductor

    Programme:
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 5 in E minor, Op. 64, Suite from the ballet »Swan Lake«, Op. 20a

The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen is one of the world’s leading orchestras. Its acclaimed performances around the bear witness to this, as do its numerous awards, including the German Record Critics’ Honorary Award and the Gramophone Classical Music Award for »Orchestra of the Year 2023«. French conductor Jérémie Rhorer has been a regular guest at the festival since 2008 with Le Cercle de l’Harmonie, the orchestra he founded and leads. For this he received the 2017 Musikfest Prize! In 2019, Rhorer began collaborating with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen on a Tchaikovsky cycle, showcasing the composer’s extensive body of work. His Fifth Symphony is one of his most popular works today. It contains some of Tchaikovsky’s most beautiful and graceful melodies, juxtaposed with intensely powerful music full of darkness and despair. The concert is rounded off by the »Swan Lake« suite. Here, the composer compiled the highlights of the ballet into a piece designed purely for the concert hall, disregarding the chronology of the plot.
