Bruce Liu burst onto the world stage in 2021 when he won the International Chopin Piano Competition. He is praised not only for his dazzling technique, but for his curiosity, versatile artistry and »playing of breathtaking beauty« (BBC Music Magazine). The young Chinese-Canadian pianist with »magician’s fingers« (Le Monde) studied with Richard Raymond und Dang Thai Son. High in demand ever since, he has performed with the world’s finest orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra and Wiener Symphoniker, with cundoctors including Manfred Honeck, Paavo Järvi, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Sir Antonio Pappano, Lahav Shani and Dalia Stasevska. In the summer of 2025, Bruce Liu made his BBC Proms debut with the Philharmonia Orchestra under the baton of Santtu-Matias Rouvali. Further highlights include performances with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, NCPA Orchestra und Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Bruce Liu has had several major international tours: He travelled to Japan with the Bavarian State Opera Orchestra, to China with the Staatskapelle Dresden and in Germany, Austria, Belgium and Paris he performed with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. He also regularly performs with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra as »Spotlight Artist«.

In addition to these performances as a concert soloist, Bruce Liu is also an active recitalist. He has performed in concert halls including the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Wigmore Hall and Philharmonie de Paris. In the 2025/26 season, he gives recital debuts at the Berliner Philharmonie and the Opéra de Lyon as well as returning to Carnegie Hall, the Musikverein Wien and major venues in Italy and Japan. He also appears at various international festivals, including Edinburgh, Klavier-Festival Ruhr, Verbier, La Roque-d’Anthéron, Rheingau, Aspen and Tanglewood.

An exclusive recording artist with Deutsche Grammophon, Liu was awarded the 2024 Opus Klassik »Young Talent of the Year« prize for his debut studio album »Waves«. His second studio album featuring Tchaikovsky’s »Seasons« was described by The Guardian as »superbly polished, but wonderfully free of mannerisms, giving these charming salon pieces the respect and sincerity they deserve«.
