Jean Rondeau is an exceptionally gifted soloist on the harpsichord, organ and piano, for which he was honoured with the Deutschlandfunk Prize at the 2016 Musikfest. The French multi-talented musician co-founded the quartet Nevermind, with whom he pursues his love of chamber music. Together, the four Early Music »Cracks« also aim to blow new life into forgotten composers. Jean-Baptiste Quentin (before 1690 – around 1742) was highly regarded as a violinist at the Académie Royale de Musique, which would later become the Paris Opera. His work was inspired by Italian music and greatly influenced by Arcangelo Corelli. Nevermind combines this fascinating insight into music that is barely ever heard in this country with two of Georg Philipp Telemann’s Parisian quartets. They combine the elegance of the French style with the liveliness of the Italian style and are some of his most mature compositions for this instrumentation – revolutionarily creative and original! Irresistibly refreshing and highly expressive, Nevermind promises to bring dazzling gems of baroque chamber music.
