Tenebrae already cemented its reputation as one of Britain’s best professional vocal ensembles with their previous appearances at the Musikfest Bremen. The Weser-Kurier commented in 2024: » So many lamentations […] and yet so moving that you want to rejoice. Because the ten female and nine male singers of the English chamber choir Tenebrae conjure up sounds of such magic that one is utterly overwhelmed.« Founded by Nigel Short in 2001, Tenebrae now celebrates its 25th anniversary with an exquisitely crafted programme that combines iconic 19th and 20th century choral works with pieces by contemporary composers, some of them composed especially for Tenebrae. This promises to be a deeply moving evening of song, in which Tenebrae will demonstrate how crystal-clear, perfectly intoned and homogeneous vocals can move an audience to the core through the sheer power and intimacy of the human voice.
