The Alinde Quartet made a name for itself on the world stage as a leading string ensemble on both modern and period instruments. Named after Franz Schubert’s song »Alinde«, the quartet has a particular passion for Schubert’s music. They are currently working on a complete recording of all his string quartets to mark the 200th anniversary of the composer’s death in 2028. Schubert wrote his Overture in C minor at the age of 14, and the piece’s orchestral sound and numerous dissonances already foreshadow his later work. Luigi Boccherini’s 90-odd string quartets on the other hand reflect the lightness of the Italian style, establishing him as one of the genre’s pioneers alongside Joseph Haydn. Juan Crisóstomo de Arriaga, who died in 1826 at the age of only 19, is sometimes called the »Spanish Mozart«. His String Quartet in D minor captivatingly evokes his Basque homeland. The Alinde Quartet’s energetic style brings together Italian spirit, Viennese elegance, and Spanish temperament, creating a vibrant, highly virtuosic exploration of a genre that was to become the ultimate musical form.
