    Jens Harzer recitation

    Programme:
Excerpts from Rainer Maria Rilke’s novel »Die Aufzeichnungen des Malte Laurids Brigge« (in German), music by Ludwig van Beethoven, Dmitri Shostakovich and Samuel Barber

Over the years, the delian:quartett has become famous in the German-speaking world and beyond not only for its flawless intonation, subtle sound and expressive intensity, but also for its literary-musical programmes. They previously appeared at the Musikfest with Bruno Ganz, Matthias Brandt and Ulrich Noethen. For their new programme »Rilke. Fühlen, wie die Vögel fliegen« (Rilke. Feeling how the birds fly), the quartet now join forces with Jenz Harzer, bearer of the Iffland-Ring since 2019, the highest honouir bestowed on theatre actors in the German-speaking world. »Die Aufzeichnungen des Malte Laurids Brigge« (The Notebooks of Malte Laurids Brigge), Rainer Maria Rilke’s only novel, deals with the uprooting of the individual and his search for identity in a modern age that has spun out of control. Paired with Shostakovich’s dark and tormented String Quartet No. 7 in F sharp minor, Barber’s famous Adagio for Strings and Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 11 in F minor, this promises to be a remarkable project to mark the Rilke jubilee year 2026.
