Previous concerts at Castle Gödens have featured world-class pianists such as Fazıl Say, Mao Fujita and Lucas Debargue. Now, another distinguished artist follows in their footsteps: Yulianna Avdeeva. Born in Moscow and now living in Munich, she made her international breakthrough in 2010, when she became the first Russian and only the fourth woman ever (after Martha Argerich in 1965) to win the prestigious Chopin Competition in Warsaw. However, the charmingly modest artist resisted the subsequent hype, developing into the mature musician we see on stage today, whose interpretations are admired the world over. With her captivating blend of virtuosity, clarity, energy and elegance, she is a spellbinding storyteller at the piano. In her recital, Yulianna Avdeeva now tackles the zenith of piano music by Bach, Beethoven and Chopin, once again proving her place among the leading pianists of our time with her magical, poetic sound.
