She’s a force of nature: Anna Lapwood. In recent years, nobody else has drawn as much attention to the organ — an instrument that is often dismissed as uncool, old-fashioned or stuffy — as she has. Because she understood that an instrument with such great volume and range is perfect for social media. At the same time, she can demonstrate the extraordinary artistic prowess involved in playing the organ. The 30-year old Brit became official organist of London’s Royal Albert Hall in May 2025 and has around 1.5 million followers on both TikTok and Instragram. This eclipses all the big names in classical music and puts her on a par with pop stars. She herself tends to downplay the hype: »I’m just trying to share my own enthusiasm for the instrument and the music I play.« Perhaps this is also part of her success. Anna Lapwood takes her audience seriously, seeking to connect with people in a very analogue way through her engaging concert moderation.
