Antonio Vivaldi: Laudate pueri Dominum in C minor RV 600 and Gloria in D major RV 589
Since its foundation in 1991, Jean-Christophe Spinosi and his Ensemble Matheus have established themselves in a repertoire ranging from Monteverdi to Rossini to Shostakovich, thanks to their infectious temperament, boundless energy, delightfully playful timbres, and dynamic variations. Vivaldi is undoubtedly one of the ensemble’s signature composers: they have won multiple international awards for their countless recordings of the Venetian composer’s works. The Gloria in D major is one of Vivaldi’s most magnificent and varied sacred works. With its festive choruses, moving solo passages and theatrical language, it promises to be a profound and majestic event like no other in the hands of Ensemble Matheus.
